State House in mourning as Uhuru’s photographer dies

Henry Murithi Nyaga, who is the Principal State House Photographer attached to the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU) is dead.

K24 Digital has established that Nyaga who is also an award-winning photographer died in his sleep on Saturday, October 16 at his home located in Embu.

President Uhuru Kenyatta led in mourning the member of his staff saying that his skills were of benefit not only to the State House but also to the country at large.

“I have received the sad news of the sudden death of Henry this morning with utter shock. Henry was a highly gifted photographer whose award-winning work made him one of the best in his field,” President Kenyatta said.

Describing him as a humble person, President Kenyatta also said that he was a dedicated member of his staff who always worked hard.

He said that he will remain an inspiration not only to those that he interacted with but also to his colleagues.

President Kenyatta said that he liked and admired how committed the deceased was and it is for that reason that he was easy to climb the political ladder to an extent of serving as the principal photographer at State House.

“I interacted with him extensively in the course of his duty, Henry exemplified diligence and deep commitment to duty,” he said.

Nyaga’s career has been successful as he climbed up the ladder from a photographer at the Kenya News Agency (KNA).

In 1999, he received the prestigious CNN Africa photojournalist of the year while still working at KNA.
