The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued an update to motorists travelling through the Konza Area.

In their statement, the road authority asked motorists using the route to exercise patience and caution due to ongoing construction works causing traffic delays.

KeNHA also highlighted that efforts to fasten the construction process are currently underway.

While reiterating the urgency for caution when traversing the route, the authority asked motorists to adhere to traffic regulations and assured them that the road will have a smoother traffic flow by the weekend.

"KeNHA advises motorists travelling through the Konza Area to exercise patience and caution due to ongoing construction works causing traffic delays. The Authority understands the inconvenience and assures you that efforts are being made to expedite the process.

"Please drive carefully and follow all traffic regulations. We anticipate smoother traffic flow by the weekend. Thank you for your cooperation," KeNHA said.

The latest comes hours after KeNHA issued an update informing motorists that the bridge linking Kitengela to Mombasa Road along Namanga Road had flooded.

“Athi River flooded early this morning and the bridge linking Kitengela to Mombasa Road along Namanga Road is impassible. Take an alternate route by diverting through the East African Portland Cement junction via Athi River to Devki," KeNHA said.

The authority advised motorists to be cautious and avoid overtaking and unnecessary lane changes.

“Avoid unnecessary lane changes and overtaking. Your safety is our top priority. Drive safely,” KeNHA added.

The raging floods occasioned by continued rains have wreaked havoc across different parts of the country, so dire is the situation that leaders including President William Ruto have come forward with various measures to help mitigate the crisis which has seen the loss of lives, and destruction of property and infrastructure.
