Baringo family distressed after headteacher disappeared seven days ago

A family in Bossei village in Baringo North Sub-county, Baringo county is in distress following the disappearance of their kin, a headteacher at a local school.

James Yator Chepkangor Kesumet who is the headteacher at Bossei Primary School mysteriously disappeared on Monday, October 11.

According to his wife, Mary Chepkangor, the teacher left home on the fateful day for work but failed to return home.

“He just left home in the morning as usual after having breakfast, but he never returned home in the evening. That was the last day that we saw him and efforts to trace him down have not yielded much,” Chepkangor said.

His wife further revealed that the jovial teacher left behind his phone and two sim cards on the table on the day he went missing.

Locals who spoke to the media said that the teacher was last seen outside his shop at Bossei Centre while wearing a purple jumper, black trousers and red slippers.

“The manner in which he disappeared is really worrying, we fail to understand whether he was planning for all this because he left behind his phone or not,” said Caleb Kipkorir a local.

Another local Evans Korir also said that they had searched for him in every hospital within Baringo county but had not managed to get him.

He called upon the police to assist the family in tracing the teacher.

“Ever since he went missing, we decided to conduct a search for him but we never managed to get him. We request the police to assist us to get him,” he said.

The matter was reported at Kabartonjo Police Post on Wednesday, three days after he went missing and it's recorded as OB number 7/13/10/2021.

The family is now requesting members of the public to assist share the information that will see the teacher found.
