Two people died in a grisly accident involving a Pickup and a Tuktuk along the Nairobi-Namanga Road on the night of Saturday, June 25, 2022.

The 9:00 pm accident occurred near East Africa University where the two occupants of the Tuktuk died on the spot, police said.

While confirming the incident, Isinya sub-county police commander Ancient Kaloki said the pickup, which had two occupants, was heading towards the Kitengela direction from Isinya. The Tuktuk was also heading in the same direction.

The speeding pickup, the police boss said, hit the Tuktuk from behind smashing it into pieces, killing the TukTuk driver on the spot.

Also killed was a police officer, who was attached to former Kajiado governor David Nkedianye between 2013-2017. The occupants of the pickup escaped the accident unhurt.

Namanga motorists warned

Kaloki warned motorists against speeding saying it endangers other road users.

The officer noted that the Kitengela Namanga route road users have become notorious for speeding especially at night.

"It is sad and unfortunate that we continue losing lives on the road. Carnages along Namanga road are becoming rampant. All road users should exercise caution, stop careless driving and speeding," Kaloki said.

He further said that some careless motorists ignore road signages and even speed in clearly marked areas.

" It is carelessness and ignorant of the highest order to see some motorist speed even in human crossing zones, where there is danger of crossing livestock and wild animals while there is very clear signage," he said.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to Shallom Community mortuary while the wreckage of the Tuktuk and the vehicle were towed to Kitengela police station.
