Nakuru: Matiang’i orders special operation to flush out gang targeting young women

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has ordered a special operation in Nakuru to flash out a gang terrorizing residents.

Speaking in Nakuru county, the CS who noted that the matter was at the hands of the police assured residents that the police will take action against the perpetrators.

He also affirmed that he had talks with the police Inspector-General Hillary Mutyambai and officers based in Nakuru to place strict measures to avert the situation.

"We talked to Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, and police officers based in Nakuru. We have already placed enough measures to flush out this gang," the CS stated.

Gang targets young women in Nakuru

Matiang'i's sentiments come after several reports of the said gang terrorizing young women in the region.

According to multiple media reports, the gang sexually assault young women and kill them by strangulation before burning their bodies to conceal evidence.

So far, five young women have lost their lives after falling victims to the gang.

Nakuru North Police Commander Samson Abanji disclosed that one suspect in connection with the group has been arrested.

He further pledged to move with speed to arrest all the gang members.
