Peng Chen, the businessman who is reported to be owning the infamous Alchemist Bar, and his wife former TV anchor Michelle Morgan have remained quiet even after the Nairobi county government shut down the premise.

Peng, refers to himself as the 'Chief Troublemaker at Alchemist' on Instagram.

Nairobi governor Anne Kananu suspended the trading license of the Alchemist Bar in Westlands over allegations of racial discrimination against patrons.

Kananu made this decision after a video that went viral showed the bar allegedly discriminating against black locals.

“I have directed county executive committee member for the environment to institute a multiagency task force and a comprehensive report of the same to be made in the next five days,” Kananu said.

A reveller shared the video and alleged that blacks were not allowed to mix with whites and Indians while waiting in queues to be cleared to enter the popular bar.

Alchemist apologized

The club issued an apology and said that the management had reached out to the individuals who posted the video on social media to get more information on the incident.

"To anyone that has felt aggrieved, we sincerely apologise and we look forward to sitting down together and addressing these issues head-on," the joint said in part in a statement issued after the alleged racist incident.

Notably, Peng is a serial entrepreneur who is the brainchild of several startups like Hustle Sasa Limited, Taka Taka solutions among others.

Peng and Michelle Morgan reportedly started Alchemist together before they exchanged vows on May 14, 2019, at a private beach wedding in Seychelles.

Morgan started off her career as a journalist working for Royal Media Services (RMS) as a news anchor. She worked for Citizen TV for one year and seven months before moving to Ebru TV.

She later joined K24 TV before she quit media altogether in 2018 to join family-owned BM Security as the Executive Director.
