Police officers in Kondele, Kisumu are investigating an incident where an officer lost his official firearm after he left it in his house to fetch water.

Seargent George Otieno Amimo left his firearm in his house and went to fetch water about 70 metres away only to return home to find the gun missing.

Police say the missing gun is a Taurus revolver

Seargent Amimo's lost gun is Taurus Revolver S/NO. TK 69848. He had kept it inside his laptop bag when he stepped out to fetch water.

The officer also reported that he lost his M-Kopa phone, two Safaricom lines and a smartphone charger during the incident.

“He securely closed his house and went to fetch water about 70 meters leaving his official firearm a Taurus Revolver s/no. Tk 69848 inside a laptop bag. On returning after about 10 mins he found the door open and the following items missing from therein; a black laptop bag with the official firearm, m-kopa mobile phone make Nokia 1.4 with two Safaricom lines and a smartphone charger leaving behind 4 rounds of caliber 9mm on the table,” the police report read in part.

DCI officers from Kondele and Police officers from Kisumu Central visited Seargent Amimo's house to collect forensic evidence.

Meanwhile, the officer who lost his gun was placed in custody as investigations into the missing gun commenced.
