Varsity students nabbed with bhang risk two months in jail if they default fine

Two students from the University of Nairobi on Monday pleaded guilty to possessing narcotic drugs contrary to the narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances Act of 1994 at Kibera court.

The two identified as Andrew Ndung’u Wambui and Brando Mwiti Mwenda were fined Ksh 5,000 by the senior Principal Magistrate Derrick Kutto or in default to serve two months behind bars.

The two students were nabbed by officers along Kipande road, Ngara in possession of bhang where they attempted to escape.

They were however pursued by police officers and arrested with five rolls of bhang whose street value was Ksh500 stashed inside their pockets.

The duo claimed to have had the weed for their own consumption and so was the penalties handed to them.
