Thursday blackout to affect Nairobi, 9 other counties

Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of a scheduled blackout on Thursday, March 13, 2024.

The utility firm in a notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade power lines to the network.

Kenya Power noted that the Thursday power interruption will affect Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Busia, Kisii, Migori, Nyeri, Kiambu and Kitui Counties.

Parts of Nairobi County will be affected by an eight-hour blackout, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Part of Dagoretti Rd, World Vision, Nandi Rd, Hse of Treasure, STECOL Karen, Nyumbani Children’s Home, Warai South Rd, Warai North Rd, Mudodo Lane, Pepo Lane, Three D Lane, Windy Ridge, Link Rd & adjacent customers.

Parts of Machakos County will experience power interruptions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Kenya Israel, Makyau, Canaani, Katelembo, Katheka kai, Kimangu, Mutuku Ngei, Kathome, Kithini, Chai Moto, Makutano Kyumbi, Kyumbi Shrine, Mua Hills, Maanzoni & adjacent customers.

Parts of Kajiado County will not have electricity supply from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Maasai Lodge Rd, Olekasasi A&B, Nazarene University, Tuala, Rangau, Kidienye, Emakoko, Ngurunga & adjacent customers.

Other areas affected include; Kandisi, SGR Terminal, Balozi, Metropolitan, Rangau, Symurina & adjacent customers.

Parts of Uasin Gichu will be in blackout from 9:00 to 4:00 pm.

The affected areas include; Lingwai, Bindura, Chemusian, Chuiyat, Kipkabus Naiberi Resort, Sisibo Factory, Kapsundei, Flax, Wonifour Kaptagat Flax Naiberi, Cheptigit, Ole Engai Flowers, Sosiani Flowers Asai Flowers Bayate, Burnt Forest, Soliat, Kondoo, Cherus, Chereber, Kitingia, Olare, Ndanai & adjacent customers.

Parts of Busia County will experience power interruptions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Maseno Village, Korinda Prisons Staff Quarters, Kisumu Ndogo, Bugengi Catholic Church, Montessori Sch. Corner Point, Budokomi Church, Bukalama, Ochude, Omiriae Village, Okiludi, St. Peters’ Ojamong’, Okatikoko, Otimong’, Pasama Village, Asyriam Mkt Center, Keng’atuny, Crown City, Olepito Sugar Factory, Okame TTC, Okatekok, Obekai, Ong’aroi, Osasamet, Aterait, Irukan, Alakara, Apegei mkt, Kololo farm, Nambale DC, Lugulu Malanga, Lwanyange, Mabunge, Ikondohera, Kisoko, Namahindi & adjacent customers.

Parts of Kisii County will not have electricity from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Part of Menyinkwa, Masongo, Nyabigege, Tabaka, Kameji & adjacent customers.

Parts of Migori County will be in blackout from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Migori Airstrip, Kefri, Nyanchabo, Masaba, Nyamamagagana, Kurutyange, Ikerege, Tarawiti, Koego, Nyametaburo, Nyamaranya, Karosi, Kehancha Town, St. Kizito. Maeta, Kegonga, Igena, Nyabikongori, Kebarisia, Mosweto, Nyamutiro, Kebaroti, Makararangwe, Ntimaru & adjacent customers.

Parts of Nyeri County will experience power interruptions from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Mathenge Technical Institute, Kagere, Gitugi T/Factory, Gitugi, Munyange Health Centre, Njigari Pri, Rwatheini Village, Mahiga Girls Sch, Mahiga Dispensary, Ihithe, Hubuini, Kihome, Miiri Mkt, Gaturuturu & adjacent customers.

Parts of Kiambu County will witness power outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Tilisi, Chunga Mali, Sigona Valley Est, Rironi Shopping Centre, Acre Tano, Mirithu, Nduma, Gatimu, Ngecha & adjacent customers.

Parts of Kitui County will be in blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Mayuni, Kasanga, Thitha, Ngongoni, Yenzuva, Mavui, Kavenge, Endei, Kalamba, Kyondoni, Kwa Jumbo, Kisiki, Thatha, Sofia, Ndalani, Itunduimoni, Katheka, Kyasyoni & adjacent customers.
