The vehicles are also required to have a valid inspection certificate and a valid Road Service Licence (RSL).

Similarly, NTSA warned against overloading and stated that all school transport vehicles must have functional seatbelts and valid vehicle insurance.

The road agency also noted that the driver must have the requisite DL class ensorsement and a valid PSV badge underscoring that all school administration must put measures to ensure full compliance with requirements of the Traffic Act and PSV regulations.

Further, NTSA called on motorists to be vigilant on roads and consider other road users and children reporting back to school.

"School administration MUST put in place measures to ensure full Compliance with the requirements of the Traffic Act and the PSV regulations. We urge all motorists to be cautious and be mindful of other road users as children go back to school," NTSA added.

Several vehicles were impounded during the exercise and random drunk driving tests were conducted.

“Pamoja tuhakikishe watoto wetu wamefika shuleni salama,” NTSA stated.
