A Silverstone plane with an unknown number of passengers crashed at the Nairobi game park near Wilson Airport shortly after take-off Friday.

The plane was headed to Lamu.

One of the passengers, who spoke to K24 Digital on phone, said the plane crashed two minutes after take-off.

“Several people sustained minor injuries,” said the passenger, adding: “Emergency response by the fire-fighting team was quick.”

A communications representative from Silverstone told K24 Digital on phone that one of the plane's engines failed, resulting in the accident.

The Kenya Red Cross has tweeted, saying the plane "developed a technical glitch while taking off".

Rescue operations are underway.
