Detectives from Lari sub-county in Kiambu County have launched investigations to determine the source of fire that razed the office of the Assistant County commissioner in Kinare village this morning as well as burning down one of the police officer's rooms.

The incident was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Lari Agnes Karoki who revealed that nobody lost life as a result of the fire.

"It is true I have confirmed there was a fire outbreak in this office this morning but no one was injured and even the officer who was living here was not injured and he is safe," Karoki confirmed.

She has also thanked the residents who showed up in large numbers and extinguished the fire before further damage.

"I am very grateful to the people here for their efforts to respond immediately and help to put out the fire before further damage," the deputy commissioner added.

On their part, the villagers urged their local leaders to jointly work with the government and rehabilitate the station, many of whom emphasized its importance in strengthening area security.

"This centre helps us a lot especially at night to see it is built in the forest near the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, in the past we were terrorized by thugs frequently," Titus Kiratu, one of the residents, said.
