Mathare residents on Monday took to the streets following the killing of one of their own on Sunday night past curfew deadline.

The deceased was allegedly drunk when police officers allegedly pounced on him, beating him to death.

The residents initially blocked police officers from taking the man's body to the mortuary, with demonstrations lasting up until the afternoon.

The demonstrators claimed that police officers based at the Muthaiga post are responsible for the killing and demanded disciplinary action taken against those found responsible.
