A 63-year-old USA citizen has been charged, in Kenya, with possessing child pornography an offence he committed in his country of origin.

Joseph William Black JR, a St Paul's University lecturer, is alleged to have committed the offence between diverse dates of October 20, 2020, and August 20, 2021, at Bishop Makarios Seminary Riruta satellite in Nairobi.

During a police search, Joseph who was born in 1959 according to police documents, was found in possession of pornographic images and a video of unknown Caucasian children aged between 5 and 13 years on his laptop.

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, the DCI officers received an intelligence report that one USA citizen who resides in Kenya was involved in child pornography back in his US home.

The police then conducted a search on the lecturer at Bishop Makarios Seminary Riruta satellite where the pornographic materials were found.

"However during the time of search Joseph William Black was located in Kenya where he resides in a seminary and it was suspected that he would be abusing other boys" the report read in part.

He pleaded not guilty at Milimani Law Courts and pleaded for leniency.

Through his lawyer, Joseph told Magistrate Susan Shitubi that he has a fixed abode in Kenya and that he is also an employee of St Paul's University hence he cannot easily fly away.

The court ordered the accused to be remanded in custody until February 8, 2022.
