University and middle-level college female students have been warned about engaging in sexual relationships with married and elderly men famously known as "sponsors."

Addressing Cherangany Students Association in Kachibora Trans Nzoia County, Julia Kichwen a high school principal in Uasin Gishu county, said sponsors have ruined lives of young upcoming professionals.

She further said the sponsors are after their beauty and satisfying their sexual desires and having nothing to add value to the young students.

"You comrades especially girls should not allow sponsors come closer to you because they will ruin your lives and kill your dreams. I am talking to you as your mother," Kichwen said.

However, some students who declined to be named, told K24 Digital that sponsors are not bad people as majority have been made to believe.

"The general perception that sponsors have ill motives is not true. Many girls have made in life, they own apartments, drive big cars and are living good lives courtesy of sponsors," she said.

The Trans Nzoia County gubernatorial aspirant also expressed her concern on the future of boys who are now suffering from inferiority complex and called on all stakeholders to give attention to them.

She said boys have for so long been forgotten and their future is threatened and not guaranteed if proper measures are not taken to correct the mistakes.

"I am very concerned with the boy child education. You find that almost everybody has been talking about girls empowerment to the extend that our boys have been left out. This is a matter we should look into," she added.
