Two suspected robbers were on Saturday morning (November 23) shot dead on Luthuli Avenue after an alleged fierce exchange of gunfire.

The two, police say, were part of a four-member gang that were engaging in robberies in Nairobi’s central business district.

Two of the suspected robbers managed to escape.

Police say, while acting on a tip-off, they confronted the four at the junction of Ukwala Road and Mwatate Lane at 2am and asked them to surrender, but the said-robbers declined to do so, instead opening fire on the cops, who responded by shooting back, and in the process fatally injuring two of the suspects.

Police say they recovered a Ceska pistol, 12 rounds of 9mm bearing, an administration police certificate bearing the name of one Johnstone Likhakasi and two masks.

The felled suspected robbers were taken to City Mortuary.
