Migori Woman Representative Dr Pamela Odhiambo has urged female university students to reject gifts from men, who they [students] do not feel emotionally connected to.

Speaking at the Rongo University in Migori County on Thursday, November 21, Odhiambo said most men feel entitled to sex from a woman who they have invested their financial resources in.

“Spurned men, who have spent money on you, are dangerous. If they fail to get what they want, they could kill you,” Odhiambo said during a public lecture at the university.

“I am asking the young women not to be overambitious. You do not have to sell yourself sexually to be able to have money. Don’t be in a hurry to have wealth, work diligently, and I believe some of you will be wealthier than the people thought to be wealthy in Kenya,” said Dr Odhiambo.

Her remarks come on the back of increasing concern over the killing of women in different parts of the country. The constant reporting of such incidents caught the attention of Interior Cabinet Secretary, Dr Fred Matiang’i, who vowed to take action against suspects.
