Students from the Kenya Medical Training Center in Murang'a went out of their way to fundraise money needed for school fees for one of their own.

According to the students, their colleague had an outstanding balance of KSh116, 000 which she is supposed to clear to be allowed to sit for her final exam starting tomorrow.

The student Salome Omutoko said her parents are not in a capacity to raise the money to help clear her school fees.

Her close friends volunteered to take her around Murang'a town and various offices to see if they could raise the required money.

Salome says if she misses the exam, she will have to wait for three more years to register for another one.

When we bumped into the students in Murang'a town, they had managed to raise over KSh80,000 from their fellow student and well-wishers around the community.

"It’s my prayer to be able to raise the required money and eventually be allowed to sit for my final exams," Salome said.

Salome's friends who sought anonymity said they volunteered to help their friend to be able to complete their journey of three and half years together.

"Members of the public have been supportive, and we appreciate their generosity, we have been studying together, and we felt obligated to help her raise the money so that she is not left out while the rest of us are doing the final exam," said one of her friends.

Efforts to reach the school management for comments proofed futile.
