Woman who attempted to disrupt President William Ruto’s speech in Nyeri has spoken.

The lady identified as Lucy Wangui now says she was seeking help from the Head of State citing a financial crisis.

She claims, his son is set to travel abroad and she is pleading for Ksh400,000 to facilitate his travel.

Wangui explains that the said son works as a matatu tout and has three school-going children who are currently at home for lack of school fees.

"Kijana wangu ni makanga na ako na watoto watatu.(Wawili secondary na mmoja primary) na ako na deni kubwa ameshindwa kulipa. Cousin yake alimuitia kazi America na amekosa Ksh400,000 ya kuenda huko. Sasa nilijua President akikuja juu nilimchagua, akisimama nitalala hapo chini nimwambie shida zangu juu nimefika mwisho naskia kujiua," she said.

Loosely translated, "My son is a tout and has three kids but he is unable to educate them he has a huge debt. His cousin has referred him to a better job abroad but he is unable to travel as we need Ksh400,000. So I decided to come here to speak to the President whom I voted for to explain my needs because I feel exhausted and I'm having suicidal thoughts."

The President was in Nyeri for the burial of Jackson Reriani Gachagua, elder brother of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

He was accompanied by his wife Rachel and other top government officials.

Reriani was laid to rest in Hiriga village, Nyeri County.

Gachagua revealed news of his demise on Sunday, September 25 through his social media but did not disclose his cause of death.

"My eldest bro, Jack Reriani. The news of your passing on last night hit me hard as I remain alone among the Kirigo sons," part of his statement read.

He mourned his brother as a father figure.
