Wife of the ill-fated Mombasa-bound bus driver has recalled her last moments with him.

Beatrice Wakothie says her husband Paul Muruthi had communicated to her and their two kids before his sudden death. At the time, he promised to send them money for school.

"I was in school for a meeting when he talked with his child and they agreed he would send some money. I did not manage to reach him again afterwards. I tried calling his phone but it did not go through," she said in a video.

The devastated woman says she learnt about the Nithi river tragedy through social media and numerous phone calls thereafter.

She says her husband who had payment arrears had raised concerns over the vehicle's failing breaks to no fruition.

Further, she decried frustrations from Modern Coast company saying she has put efforts to seek help from them in vain.

"When someone dies while on duty, shouldn't we receive help? We tried contacting them and they said I should find out where his body is and bring it home. They are also not picking up our calls," she said.
