A Ugandan policeman was on Friday night arrested by Kenyans before he was handed over to Usenge Police Station.

K24 Digital has established that the Ugandan officer differed with fishermen from Bondo in Siaya county and was about to be lynched when Kenyan police officers rescued him.

Alfred Ochieng' one of the fishermen leaders in Bondo said that Ugandan police officers attacked them before they made away with their boats in Lake Victoria.

“The Ugandan police officers then asked them to leave in one boat in the company of the Ugandan officer who was heading to Sigulu Island,” Ochieng said.

However, the officer missed the direction to Sigulu Island and asked them to assist him since it was at night.

The fishermen then saw the moment as the right one to mislead him towards Honge Beach.

As soon as they arrived at the beach, the fishermen overpowered the Ugandan and held him before they confiscated the boat that belongs to the neighboring country.

"When locals and other fishermen spotted the Ugandan Army officer, they were almost lynching him before Kenyan police officers swiftly moved to save him," Ochieng' explained.

Kenya has a historical diplomatic tiff with Uganda for years over the border in Lake Victoria.

In 2020, Kenyan authorities held ten Ugandans who died in lake Victoria and demanded that two Kenyans who were being held in Uganda be released.
