President William Ruto has lauded the spouses of Kenya Defence Force (KDF) soldiers for their support and diligence towards their husbands while away on deployment.

Speaking at a KDF event held at the Laikipia Airbases on Friday, October 14, 2022, the country's first-in-command commended the officers' partners for being 'loyal' to their husbands despite them being away on deployment.

"I commend the spouses of our service members who remain at home holding fort as their loved ones are away on deployment," he stated.

He further expressed gratitude towards the soldiers' partners for 'maintaining' a sustainable and firm support system while their husbands were away.

"Their work is silent, away from sight with absolute loyalty & dedication to keep families together thereby sustaining an indispensable support network," Ruto noted.

"It is this affirming and nurturing network of loved ones which again become primary caregivers to those of our personnel who may, unfortunately, suffer critical war trauma, whether physiological or psychological and their support is vital for their healing and strength. On behalf of a grateful nation, I appreciate you and I thank you," the head of state added.

He also acknowledged that the officers had played a significant role in enhancing peace and stability in the country.

"We pay homage to the bravery of our warriors in defending and protecting our sovereignty, and territorial integrity," he stated.
