The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has raised an alarm over a fake job advert circulating on social media.

In a statement on Tuesday, January 10, NACADA said the notice purporting to advertise over 1,000 permanent and pensionable jobs did not originate from the agency and urged members of the public to ignore it.

"Our attention has been drawn to the advertisement below on purported vacancies at the Authority. We wish to inform members of the public that the announcement is FAKE and should thus be dismissed with contempt," NACADA said.

Further, NACADA cautioned members of the public against falling prey to fraudsters posing as NACADA employees targeting to fleece Kenyans of their hard-earned cash with a promise of helping them secure employment.

"The Authority does not charge for any application and neither does it engage individuals to conduct hiring of staff on its behalf," NACADA added.

NACADA noted that all its vacancies are advertised through the My GOv. pullout or newspapers of nationwide circulation.

"We advise the public to constantly confirm the validity of advertisements bearing the NACADA brand through our multiple official platforms such as the website (www.nacada.go.ke) and social media pages; Twitter (@NACADAKenya), Facebook (Nacada Kenya) and Instagram (@nacada.kenya)," NACADA added.

In the advert with the fake job details, Kenyans had been encouraged to apply for various jobs at the authority by January 9, 2023.
