The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced extension of the ongoing application exercise until further notice.

In a statement on Sunday, February 25, 2024, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mercy Wahome said the deadline, which was set for February 26, 2024, has been extended to ensure all targeted applicants apply.

This is the second time KUCCPS is pushing the application deadline forward amid rising complaints from a section of applicants, who have been unable to submit their university choices due to system glitches.

"Arising from the ongoing process, I wish to assure those who have not yet submitted their applications, and Kenyans in general, that the application deadline, which was set for February 26, 2024, has been extended until KUCCPS ascertains that all targeted students have applied," the CEO stated.

The KUCCPS boss further acknowledged delays in processing applicants' payments. She advised the applicants to avoid making double payments.

"Since payments for government services have been migrated to the eCitizen platform, the process of payment validation for the KUCCPS application is longer than before. Applicants are advised to avoid making double payments," Wahome stated.

The CEO noted that processing of applications for placement will start once KUCCPS is sure all applicants have submitted their course choices based on the targeted number of students.

"Therefore, no one will be disadvantaged on the basis of the day or time they made their applications," the CEO assured.

The applicants will also have an opportunity to revise their choices before final placement.

"After the first placement exercise, there will be two revision opportunities that will be provided for students who will not have applied, or those who will not have secured their selected courses, to reapply," Wahome assured.

"KUCCPS is working closely with relevant stakeholders in Government to ensure that all applicants are enabled to submit their choices in the spirit of leaving no student behind."

KUCCPS officially opened its application portal on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

In a notice to the general public, KUCCPs said the portal was open for placement of students to Universities, TVET institutions, Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Teachers Training Colleges (TTCs), and Open University of Kenya (OUK).

The placement exercise targets candidates who sat for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination in 2023 and Form Four leavers from 2000 to 2022.

"The wait is over! The @KUCCPS_Official portal is now open! It's time to apply for your preferred course in an institution of your choice. Keep it here for updates," the notice read in parts.
