A Class Eight pupil at a primary school in Bomet East has been arrested after he fatally stabbed his elder brother on Monday night.

Police said the 16-year-old boy picked a knife and stabbed his elder sibling in the chest after his sister-in-law (the deceased’s wife) screamed for help following a domestic row.

The couple were fighting in their Koita Village home.

Kiplabotwa chief Stanley Towet said after hearing his sister-in-law screaming for help, the boy picked a knife, rushed to his brother’s house, broke down the door and stabbed him in the chest.

“The teenager did not even inquire why the two were fighting; he just stormed the room and drove the knife in his elder sibling’s chest,” Towet told K24 Digital.

The victim was taken to Longisa Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The local administrator said the boy, who is epileptic, occasionally exhibits violence.

Bomet East police boss, James Kilonzo, says the suspect is being detained at Longisa Police Station, and will be arraigned in a juvenile court on Wednesday, October 23.

The deceased was taken to Longisa County Referral Hospital morgue.
