A 44-year-old prison warder in Kapsabet prison, Nandi County committed suicide by shooting himself.
Calitus Muyeshi shot himself at 5:30 pm in one of the changing rooms within the prison department
While confirming the incident, Nandi Central OCPD Dorice Chemos said the officer has been okay and he reported to his normal duties at the prison before shooting himself in the evening.

"He reported to work at 12:30 pm in a jovial mood as usual. Nobody could realise whether he had any problem. At around 5:30 in the evening, his colleagues heard bullet sounds and rushed to the scene where they found him dead," OCPD said⁹
The OCPD said DCI officers have begun investigating the incident.
The body of the deceased was moved to Kapsabet County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
