The Public Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed reports that it had appointed former TV journalist Jacque Maribe as Head of Communications in the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.

In an update shared on Thursday, March 14, 2024, the commission's chairperson Anthony Muchiri clarified that contrary to Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria's remarks, no such appointment was made, neither has a request to employ her been received by the board.

Muchiri also stated that should a vacancy arise, the commission will announce a vacancy which will be filled through a competitive process

"For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise," he said.

In his announcement, CS Kuria said Maribe had landed the role following her appointment by PSC.

"It is true, except that I am not the one who appointed her but the Public Service Commission," he said.

The news of the alleged appointment which came weeks after she was acquitted in Monica Kimani's murder sparked debate across different media platforms.

Others including digital strategist Dennis Itumbi congratulated her for landing the new role.

"Congratulations, Jacque Maribe. May God bless you as you serve Asante @HonMoses_Kuria for standing with a generation, please keep doing good and stretching your hand," Itumbi wrote.
