Comedienne Mammito has broken silence after a section of social media users called her out over a video of her taunting Joseph Irungu alias Jowie shortly after he was sentenced to death.

In the comical skit which has since gone viral, Mammito played a musical instrument to Dolly Parton's song Jolene.

While mimicking Dolly Parton's rhythm, Mammito who substituted Jolene for Jowie urged the latter not to cry because he got a death sentence and that he should see it as an opportunity to scam Kenyans.

The comedienne also joked that Jowie would find a man who loved him dearly and would kill in a prison talent show.

“Jowie, don’t you cry because you got a death sentence. Jowie, Jowie, Jowie, see it as an opportunity to scam us Jowie. Jowie, when you go to prison, you will find a man that loves you so dearly you will find your soulmate Jowie. With your two songs, you are going to perform in the prison in the prison talent show, and you are going to kill it, Jowie," she sang.

Irked by the comical skit, a section of social media users fired at Mammito accusing her of seizing the opportunity to grow her brand at the expense of another person's vulnerable moments.

Quarters expressed their frustrations saying it was uncouth of her to use a sensitive topic for her content creation.

But in her response today, Thursday, March 14, 2024, Mammito sarcastically expressed that the backlash had given her hope for the future that one day Kenyans will unite to fight against corruption and other things ailing the country.

She also lauded Kenyans for their unity and sustained criticism over her video urging them to implore similar tactics when fighting for positive change in the country.

"I have witnessed a very rare occurrence something that has not happened since 2002 people from every background uniting together for a reason, to cook me. It gives me hope for the future that one day we shall unite and fight against corruption and other things ailing our country. Am in hot fire now, my soul wipes.

"I am but a small thin woman with no buttocks and am not as attractive, how dare I joke about a beautiful accused person, but your unity how it fills my soul!" she said.
