Renowned journalist and preacher Syombua Osiany, who is the wife of Trade and Industrialization CAS David Osiany, has come out to clarify why she congratulated Deputy President William Ruto after his declaration as president-elect despite her husband being an ardent supporter of Raila Odinga.
Taking to her Facebook page, Syombua stated that on the day of the announcement of the results, she vowed to congratulate whoever was declared Kenya's fifth president.
The former Radio Citizen presenter maintained that she is apolitical and has never outrightly backed any political side.
"On 15th August 2022, 3 hours before the presidential announcement was done, I posted that I would kneel down, pray and congratulate WHOEVER the president-elect would be announced. Immediately after the announcement, I took to my knees, prayed, and congratulated the president-elect as declared by the IEBC.
"I kept my word to my followers and preached peace. It's unbelievable how this has been taken out of proportion including ridiculing my husband for no reason. I pray for God's healing upon you all," she posted.
CAS Osiany fights off allegations of being Ruto’s ‘informer’ in Azimio
CAS Osiany was on Saturday, August 27, 2022, forced to fight off claims alleging that he was President-Elect William Ruto's mole in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition.
This came after blogger Abraham Mutai and ODM's candidate in the Muranga senatorial contest Pius Kinuthia, poked holes into Osiany's political stand accusing him of being an informer.
Osiany has been under sharp criticism after his wife Syombua Osiany, a renowned radio presenter, congratulated Ruto for winning the presidency.
His accusers claimed that it was rather ironic that the CAS was serving as Raila’s agent at the Bomas of Kenya, yet his spouse was rooting for their flagbearer’s main competitor.
“To imagine characters like Pius Kinuthia
who have done ZILCH for Azimio would drag my name in mud in pursuit of followers & clout is TRAGIC! Confronted him to explain his post, he said, ‘let’s talk at 10 am. Abraham Mutai you’re better than joining the chorus of songs you know not,” he posted.
Kinuthia however stood his ground, claiming that he has a dossier that will expose the role that the CAS played to deliver Ruto’s win.
“Bro. I have your file. Relax. No fights. I am not after any followers or clout. Whatever I have done for Baba for the last 13 years is public bro. Do not defend yourself,” he replied.
