Alex Mangi Yaa, the father of a 32-year-old man, who was allegedly fatally hit by Inspekta Mwala’s vehicle at Kwa Randi area in Kilifi County, says they are yet to hear a word from the comedian, three days after the death of their son.

Mwala, whose real name is Davis Mwabili, was allegedly drunk during the accident, which happened at 10:30pm on Monday.

Police said Mwala hit and killed Ishmael Yaa as he (Mwala) tried to avoid hitting an oncoming vehicle.

The funnyman was driving from Mazeras to Kaloleni.

Mwala, who was arrested and held at Rabai Police Station, was on Tuesday released on a Ksh40, 000 police cash bail, awaiting to be arraigned in court on Friday, August 30.

Rabai Sub-County police commander, David Maina, said Mwala had been released on police cash bail awaiting completion of investigations into the allegations of causing death by dangerous driving.

The police boss said the suspect is likely to face another count of driving while drunk.

A postmortem was conducted on the deceased on Wednesday, August 28.

“We are now looking for a lawyer to represent us in court. Sadly, Mwala is yet to communicate with us despite killing our son, who has left behind a young wife and a child,” said the deceased’s father, Alex Mangi Yaa.

Ishmael Yaa was heading to work, when he met his death.
