A 20-year-old man from Kabartonjo in Baringo County was on Tuesday evening taken to hospital after he was attacked by an elephant on the loose.

Daniel Chesire was attempting to take a selfie with the jumbo, when it charged at him.

The elephant had reportedly escaped from a nearby conservancy and pitched camp in one of the homesteads in Tanyilel area in Baringo North.

The wild animal also killed a cow and destroyed crops and a fence in its moment of rage.

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers arrived at the scene Tuesday afternoon and drove out the elephant.
