Outgoing Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya now claims his Facebook account has been hacked after a post endorsing Cleophas Malalah in today's governor seat election was published on the page.

Oparanya said he had reported the matter to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for action.

"This is to notify the general public that my Facebook page has been hacked by agents of doom.

"Ignore any post on my Facebook page as we await @DCI_Kenya to handle the matter and restore it. Thank you," he wrote on his Twitter handle.

By the time of publishing this story, the fake post on Oparanya's page endorsing Malala had not been brought down and it had attracted over 7000 comments and 8000 likes.

ANC's Malalah is battling out for the Kakamega governor seat alongside six others among them Fernandez Barasa of the Orange Democratic Movement party.

The election was postponed due to ballot papers mix-up during the August 9 general election.
