Newly inaugurated Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire now wants Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho not to transfer Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Stephen Kihara to Embu County.

Mbarire said Kihara was used to "create" tribal animosity in Uasin Gishu County ahead of the August 9 presidential election.

"@FredMatiangi@Karanjakibicho Kihara was used by your office to create fear, division, and tribal animosity in Uasin Gishu during the campaigns.

"Embu is not a dumping ground for bad leaders. Keep him and cleanse him elsewhere," Mbarire wrote on her Twitter account.

Mbarire protest comes days after Kapseret Member of Parliament-elect Oscar Sudi accused Kihara of inciting residents of Uasin Gishu ahead of the general election.

"Mr. County Commissioner, you know very well that you incited people here with too much falsehood.

"We have forgiven you but you must resign from this government. We can't accept such kind of activities here," Sudi said.

The legislator said the commissioner wanted to "start" a war in Kenya.

"Let us tell each other the truth to heal this nation. You wanted to start a war in this country Kenya.

"But we in Kenya Kwanza we stood our ground and preached peace and politics is now over. County commissioner you should prepare yourself, you must go home," he added.

Transfer of commissioners

Kihara was among county commissioners who were transferred on August 23, 2022.

“The officers should be released to report to their new stations immediately,” the notice from the Ministry of Interior read.
