DP Ruto’s Chief of Staff Ken Osinde is dead

Ken Osinde, who until his death was Deputy President William Ruto's Chief of Staff has died today while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

"It is true we have lost him. The family will issue a comprehensive statement later today,” DP Ruto’s aide said.

Osinde, who was born in 1962, is said to have fallen I'll in the past few months with an undisclosed illness.

“Ken was stressed in the past few months but we did not understand what the problem was,” said one of his colleagues.

Osinde started working at Harambee Annex in 2016 as the Chief of Staff where he acted as a mediator of issues before they reached the DP.

He had been a long-serving lecturer at the University of Nairobi where he pioneered research and published on Sheng' and youth languages.

He also worked as a manager at the National Bank of Kenya where he rose to the position of Head of Strategic Planning.

He also worked in the insurance industry as CEO and Director of the College of Insurance.

He was the Ambassador of Kenya to Germany in 2010 and took part in the inauguration of the first direct flight from Mombasa to Berlin, Germany.
