One of the bullets removed from two cousins who were shot outside Gatundu Law Courts has gone missing at Thika Level Five Hospital.

It is believed that after it was removed from the victim's body, the bullet disappeared in the hands of medics.

According to Humphrey Kimani, a relative to the cousins, the bullet mysteriously disappeared from their sight when the two were receiving first aid at Gatundu Level Five hospital before they were transferred for specialised treatment at Thika Level Five Hospital.

It has also emerged that no ballistic report has been availed to the cousin's family, weeks after the shooting incident happened.

Kimani, who spoke to K24 Digital outside Thika Level Five Hospital, regretted that police have been keeping them in darkness over the incident adding that zero investigations have been conducted using the CCTV recorded near the crime scene.

"We are worried that police have kept us out of their investigation processes. No one has been arrested and no one has been presented before any court. Something fishy is happening," Kimani regretted.

Mary Wanjiru, who is the mother of one of the cousins, said she has been living in fear since the incident happened forcing her to vacate her village home to a safer place.

"From what happened on that day, there is no way I could stay at home as they could easily come and attack us. I left Gitwe for Nairobi and that is where I have been leaving," she said.

Efforts to reach police in Gatundu for a comment were unproductive.

The two cousins were sprayed with over five bullets on their legs, chests, and hands minutes after leaving the Gatundu court by a lone assailant who is reported to have been riding a speeding motorbike.

At the heart of the incident is a longstanding land dispute between the cousins' family and a man who claims to have bought part of the land.

According to family members, the land tussle has frequently resulted in torching of their houses and unwarranted arrests of their kins by police officers using alleged trumped-up charges.
