Kenya confirms 8 new Covid-19 cases, total now 270

Almost every residential estate in Nairobi and Mombasa counties has a Covid-19 case, Ministry of Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said on Sunday.

Health CAS said that eight people have tested positive for coronavirus diseased, bringing the total confirmed cases in Kenya to 270.

Dr. Mwangangi said that four of the new cases are from Mombasa, three from Nairobi and one in Kajiado.

The eight, out of which seven are Kenyans and one foreigner, have no known history of travel, the Health CAS said.

Two more people died, bringing the total Covid-19 deaths in Kenya to 14.

Following reports that unscrupulous traders were washing and reselling facemasks, Dr. Mwangangi said that the recycling of surging masks is criminal.

National exams

During the briefing, Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof. George Magoha, said that national examinations are still scheduled to take place since students are undertaking e-learning at home.
