24-year-old man on the run for k*****g mother in Kirinyaga

Police in Kirinyaga West Sub County within Kirinyaga County have launched a manhunt for a 24-year-old man suspected of murdering his 48-year-old mother.

According to Kirinyaga West Sub County Police Commander Martha Ng'etich, during the midnight incident, the suspect stabbed his mother several times using a sharp kitchen knife before fleeing the scene.

The police boss, has said that the weapon used in the murder has been recovered from the scene of crime while further investigations are ongoing to establish the root cause of the incident.

The body of the 48-year-old woman has been moved to Jamii Hospital Morgue in Karatina, Nyeri County.

"Our officers are on high alert to ensure that the suspect is arrested and dealt with by the law," Ng'etich said.

A source who sought anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter has revealed that the suspect had been contemplating committing murder.

"He has been on drugs. He has also been issuing threats of committing a crime without revealing his target," the source said.

The source further added that many young people within Kibingoti area and its environs are into drug abuse, an issue which residents view as a ticking timebomb.
