Eric Omondi has asked netizens to help him trace a hawker who was captured breaking down after an encounter with city askaris popularly known as Kanjo.

The comedian, who of late has turned to activism and philanthropy, vowed to stand with the groundnut hawker following a viral video of his ordeal at the hands of city inspectorate officers.

"Wakimwaga Tunaokota…Wakibomoa TUNAJENGA!!! Am looking for this Boy If you have his number please commentwith it or DM ME🙏🙏. But remember OUR TIME IS COMING!!!!! " Eric wrote.

The Principal Secretary (PS) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Susan Auma also asked netizens to help her trace the same groundnut hawker.

The PS called on Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja should establish secure operational environments for micro and small enterprises.

"Respected @County Government of Nairobi led by Governor @SakajaJohnson, I earnestly urge for the formalization and integration of micro and small enterprises, coupled with the establishment of secure operational environments. It is imperative to preserve and nurture these enterprises, recognizing that their demise does not enhance Nairobi's affluence and prosperity," she wrote.

Smokie vendor

Eric Omondi's decision to go to the defence of the groundnut hawker comes a month after he raised Ksh556,000 in just three hours for a smokie vendor who was harassed by ruthless city county askaris.

Smokie vendor Quinter Adhiambo in October 2023 incurred losses after kanjos seized her trolley.

However, Eric Omondi wiped Adhiambo's tears as he fundraised for her via Instagram Live.
