The government has launched Project BETA, a tool designed to monitor the implementation of developmental projects across the 47 counties.

Speaking at Kenya School of Government (KSG) Internal Security Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo noted that the innovative digital tool was a step towards creating a more modern, functional and efficient National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) system.

According to the PS, the digital devices supplied through Project BETA are expected to be instrumental in monitoring the implementation of government programs, policies, and projects, at both local and national levels of governance.

Omollo asserted that the focus was on providing enhanced oversight capacity from the grassroots level, ensuring that policies and projects are implemented seamlessly across all 47 counties.

"The gadgets will aid in tracking the progress and coordinating the realization of the National Government programs, policies and projects at the county and national levels of governance," he stated.

“The purpose of Project BETA is to capacitate our officers to better supervise, coordinate and oversee effective implementation of National Government policies, programs and projects with an emphasis on the lowest administrative unit being the Sub-Location cascaded upwards to the Region level,” Omollo added.

The PS also revealed that the gadget had the integration of Artificial Intelligence into its digital system.

During the event, Omollo also officiated the distribution of the gadgets to Regional and County Commissioners.

This comes hot on the heels of President William Ruto's announcement the government was working on coming up with a tracker to monitor the government's developmental projects and commitments as part of 'Project BETA.'
