The wrangles facing Nairobi Members of County Assembly (MCAs) affiliated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) are far from over.

This comes even after a meeting chaired by UDA party chairperson Cecile Mbarire and Secretary General Cleophas Malala party yielded nothing tangible.

One of the agenda items of the meeting was to establish claims that some of the 35 signatures appended to oust embattled Minority Leader Antony Kiragu and Minority Whip Mark Mugambi were forged.

SG Malala said he had received complaints that some of the signatures were forged, hence calling for the meeting.

However, the secretariat did not reveal whether the issue of forgery was discussed or not.

Deputy Minority Leader Waithera Chege said they had written to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the alleged forged signatures.

"We urgently request your good office to investigate this matter expeditiously to establish if there was any forgery of the said signature or whether the said deponents gave false information under oath," reads the letter in part.

The letter was written by Mutunga Justus and associate advocates on behalf of the MCAs.

Waithera said that in the meeting, the secretariat posed a question for voting.

"Our standing orders allow us and give us the process of removing a leader from position," Waithera said.

However, when the question was posed of how many MCAs are in support of a new process to elect their leadership, the UDA legislators voted by lifting their hands.

"Our numbers were 27, while theirs were 26. At that point, it was agreed that because it was visible that the UDA MCAs were divided into two, the national chair would proceed to brief the party leader," Waithera added.

Governor Mbarire said that she would have to brief President William Ruto, and therefore another meeting will be held to give a proper way forward.
