The Communications Authority (CA) of Kenya on Friday announced a vacancy for the Director General position barely a week after Ezra Chiloba resigned.

In a gazette notice, the company announced that it was looking for a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Director General.

According to the company, those interested are required to possess a bachelor's degree in telecommunications, information technology, humanities and social sciences, business-related fields, applied and physical sciences or any other equivalent qualification.

Interested candidates must also have ten years of relevant work experience and at least five years in senior management.

One must also have a strong track record in regulatory, telecommunications, ICT or broadcasting sectors.

Upon appointment, the candidate will be responsible for providing strategic and visionary leadership. He/she will also play a crucial role in the management and oversight of the institution and ensure that the company fulfils its mandate of regulating and promoting the country's ICT sector.

"The Director General is responsible for providing strategic and visionary leadership and has full operational responsibility in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic business plans of the Authority. The DG will play a crucial role in the management and oversight of the institution, ensuring that CA fulfils its mandate of regulating and promoting the ICT sector in Kenya," the company said.

The company indicated that interested candidates should submit their applications on or before November 17, 2023.

The submissions should be emailed to [email protected] or hand-delivered in a clearly marked envelope of the position being applied for and addressed to the company chairperson.

Chiloba resigned from the position on October 18, 2023, shortly after he was suspended over graft allegations on September 18, 2023.

"The Board of Directors of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has this morning, 19th October 2023, accepted the resignation of Mr. Ezra Chiloba as the Director General," the resignation letter submitted to the board read in parts.

Before his suspension, the former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO had served for two years.
