Three students from a school in Bomet central are being held by
security officers after they were found in possession of narcotics.

The trio from Tarakwa High School was arrested by police on Thursday afternoon following a tip-off from the school’s administration.

Confirming the incident, Bomet Police Commander Naomi Ichami told the press that the students were found in possession of seven rolls of cannabis Sativa.

Ichami who refused to divulge more about the incident said investigations are ongoing and that the three were set to be arraigned in court on Friday to face charges.

The police boss further revealed that the students are suspected to be working in cahoots with outsiders who supply them with the illegal substance.

The police boss further pointed out that once the suspects are arraigned in court they will engage the school management and parents with a view to finding the source of the drugs.

Ichami also hinted that her officers will be seeking to unearth the syndicate behind the supply and sale of the illegal substances to the students in schools.

“We shall continue with our investigations to identify the people
behind the illegal business in schools,” she said.

However, when contacted for a comment, Samuel Mweruti, the school principal declined to comment on the matter and instead referred K24 Digital to the Sub County Director of Education.
