The brother to the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, Imran, on Sunday had a bitter welcome to the political scene after receiving a frosty welcome from a section of the crowd.

When he stood up to greet the crowd that had gathered for the highly-anticipated unveiling of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) aspirants for the vacant Kibra Constituency seat, a section of the crowd heckled him.

All this happened in the presence of the ODM leader Raila Odinga, who sat calmly on the dais with other party officials and hopeful aspirants.

Mr Raila ruled out giving out a direct nomination to any of ODM aspiring candidates for the Kibra by-election slated for November 7.

Instead, the aspiring candidates will battle it out in a party primary on Saturday, August 31.
