Two women were on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, charged in court after they were accused of damaging 32 pairs of shoes worth Ksh53,000.

Monica Kimani and Julia Wairimu appeared before Kibera senior resident magistrate William Tulel to give an account of the charges presented.

According to a charge sheet presented before the court, the aforementioned women are said to have damaged the shoes of Agnes Njeri Wairimu at Kawangware market area in Dagoretti sub-county, Nairobi, on December 31.

The duo denied the charges and requested a cash bail of Ksh5,000 each since they were unable to pay higher amounts.

In her defence, the first accused pleaded with the court to show her mercy since she was taking care of a child.

The two were granted Ksh5,000 cash bail as requested. The magistrate ruled that the case will be brought for pre-trial on January 30, 2023.

Elsewhere in Malindi, a 28-year-old man was on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, arraigned at the Malindi Law Courts for allegedly sexually abusing minors.

Patrick Mabuni alias Pat ARV is said to have harboured four boys aged between 10 and 12 at his house in Malindi.

He was arrested on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, after officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) intercepted disturbing content online, portraying the man abusing the minors.

The sleuths established that the suspected paedophile ran a football foundation in Malindi, which he had been using to lure innocent minors before engaging them in the beastly act.

"Medical tests later confirmed that two of the minors had been sexually abused," DCI said in a statement.

Mbauni was arraigned before Malindi Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Osui and charged with two counts of defilement, four counts of child pornography and four counts of child trafficking.

He denied all the charges.

The magistrates directed that the suspect be held until February 7 when he will be presented in court for a pre-bailing hearing.
