The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the closure of the Nakuru-Eldoret (A8) Road at Timboroa Market.

In a statement released by KeNHA on Thursday, May 2, the closure was due to severe flood damage that has compromised a section of the roadway making it unstable.

KeNHA said the damage left a portion of the road vulnerable to potential collapse.

KeNHA has cautioned against any attempts to use the affected section of the road urging motorists to use alternative routes.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority regrets notifying the public of the closure of Nakuru - Eldoret (A8) Road at Timboroa Market. This follows the destruction by storm water this morning which left a section of the road exhibiting signs of a possible collapse. The Authority cautions road users against any attempts to use this section of the road in the interest of their safety. Motorists have been rerouted to diversions within the Timboroa area," KeNHA said.

All road users are urged to exercise caution and comply with the instructions provided by traffic marshals to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the area.

Individuals are encouraged to reach out to KeNHA via email at [email protected] or through the toll-free line: 0800-211-244.

"All road users are requested to exercise caution, avoid overlapping and follow directions from traffic marshals to ensure smooth flow of traffic. The Authority remains committed to ensure seamless connectivity to facilitate the safe passage of goods and services. At KeNHA, your safety is our utmost priority."

Thika road reopened

Most roads have been affected by the ongoing flooding due to heavy rains in most parts of the country.

On Wednesday, April 1, a portion of the Thika Superhighway near Kahawa Sukari was shut down because of flooding.

However, in the evening, KeNHA announced the reopening of the road, stating that it was now safe for traffic.

KeNHA assured motorists that the previously flooded section was now safe to use, expressing gratitude for their cooperation and patience during the closure.
