The family of Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika on Saturday, November 7 received her dowry from the lawmaker’s partner, Sam Mburu.

The ceremony was held in Marmanet Town, 15 kilometers north of Nyahururu in Laikipia County.

The event attracted the attendance of at least 100 guests, including Deputy President William Ruto, who is a close friend of Kihika.

Others who graced the ceremony include MPs Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), David Gikaria (Nakuru East), Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Caleb Kositany (Soy), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), and Aisha Juma (Malindi), DP Ruto’s personal assistant Faruk Kibet, former State House digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, among others.

Taking to his Twitter page Saturday, Itumbi wished Kihika and Mburu well in their union.

“Congratulations @susankihika, may the dowry get accepted before man and God. May your streams of love forever flow in full grace and the friendship of you have sealed in acceptable tradition grow as strong as the Mugumo tree,” said Itumbi.

Mburu and Kihika met in 2012 during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaign trail ahead of the March 4, 2013 general election.

Three years ago, a youthful woman, Beatrice Wanjiku, demanded that the courts allocate half of Sam Mburu’s wealth to her because she “helped him amass wealth back in the day”, when Mburu was a casual worker in one of the logistics companies in Kenya.

Wanjiku, who first met Mburu in 2002, claimed her relationship with Mburu yielded two children.

The source of Mburu’s vast wealth remains unclear.

Kihika’s marriage to Mburu, a native of Solai in Nakuru, has been interpreted by political pundits as an important ingredient towards the senator realising her ambition of dislodging Lee Kinyanjui as Nakuru Governor in 2022.
