First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto on Thursday, June 22, 2023, hosted a total of 118 women staff at State House, Nairobi for breakfast.

In a statement, the office of the First Lady said during the meeting they exchanged valuable skills and insights on table banking, capacity building and personal development.

Rachel says the women are tasked with beautifying and planting grass in the Statehouse.

"I had the pleasure of meeting 118 women working hard to beautify the Statehouse by planting grass. We had a breakfast meeting to exchange valuable skills and insights on table banking, capacity building and personal development," part of the statement read.

During the meeting, the First Lady emphasized the importance of empowering women to be financially independent.

"When you empower a woman, you empower a community. Women are the backbone of society, and their empowerment has a ripple effect that touches every aspect of community life.

"When empowered, a woman gains the confidence and resources to pursue her dreams and aspirations. She becomes a beacon of inspiration, a guiding light for others, instilling in them the belief that they too can overcome obstacles and achieve greatness," Rachel Ruto stated

The First Lady noted that empowered women drive positive change.

"As she grows and thrives, she becomes a catalyst for positive change within her family, community and beyond. She becomes financially independent and contributes to the economic growth of her community. That is why we must seize every opportunity to share our lessons and encourage other women on how they can better their livelihoods and the livelihoods of their communities," she noted.
