The wife of suspected drug baron Ali Punjani has sued the State for raiding her Nyali home last month.

In a case filed at the Shanzu Law Courts on Wednesday, Karki Sushmija sued the Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai and the head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti.

Sushmija wants the police bosses to be compelled to hand over title deeds, money in foreign currencies, cheque books, log books, vehicle keys, laptops, passports, and other valuable items that were seized from their posh home in Mombasa.

She claims that at the time of the police raid, she was the custodian of the house, since the husband was away undergoing treatment in India.

Sushmija said the police search and seizure of valuable documents constitutes a violation of her fundamental rights.

The Shanzu court listed the case for inter-parties hearing on Thursday.
