Chief of staff at the County government of Nairobi Paul Mutunga Mutungi, has been nominated the Deputy Governor for Nairobi.

This comes a day after Her Excellency Ann Kananu was sworn in as the 3rd governor of Nairobi.

In a letter to the county Speaker, Benson Mutura, the governor informed him of the nomination noting that there is a vacancy in the office of the Deputy Governor.

The position was left vacant following her swearing-in as Nairobi's third Governor.

“In this regard, and pursuant to Section Pursuant to Section 32C (1)(a) of the County Governments Act, I do hereby nominate Mr Paul Mutunga Mutungi to the position of Deputy Governor,” read the letter.

Kananu has noted that Mutungi has good leadership qualities and he is competent.

“In this regard, and pursuant to Section Pursuant to Section 32C (1)(a) of the County Governments Act, I do hereby nominate Mr Paul Mutunga Mutungi to the position of Deputy Governor,” the letter continued.

She has further asked Mutura to expedite the vetting process for appointment.

“In this regard, and pursuant to Section Pursuant to Section 32C (1)(a) of the County Governments Act, I do hereby nominate Mr Paul Mutunga Mutungi to the position of Deputy Governor,” read the letter.

The Supreme court advised in march 2018 that within 14 days the vacancy is supposed to be filled.
