Mathare man, 48, dies of Covid-19; 22 new cases confirmed as total hits 1,214

Kenya on Sunday reported 22 new Covid-19 cases bringing the total infections in the country to 1,214.

Nairobi and Mombasa counties had the majority of the new Covid-19 cases with 10 and nine respectively, Kwale, Nakuru and Taita Taveta counties had one case each.

In Nairobi County, Mathare and Kibera slums had two cases each while Makadara, Embakasi West, Eastleigh, Ruaraka, Langata, and Westlands had one case each.

The nine cases from Mombasa came from Mvita with five while Jomvu, Likoni, Changamwe and Nyali had one each.

During the Sunday briefing, Health Chief Administrative Secretary, Dr. Rashid Aman, said that three more people were discharged from hospitals, pushing recoveries to 359.

However, one patient, a 48-year-old man from Mathare died of Covid-19 complications.

So far, Kenya has tested 59,260 samples since the virus that has killed 51 people in the country hit our shores.
